This interactive map shows the CalFire designated “Fire Hazard Severity Zones.” Scroll around and click on the map for more information about the particular area. In theory, zones in the Very High zones should require stricter building code requirements and land use policies which ensure the safety of the residents living there: ability to evacuate, hardened homes, defensible space, multiple egress. You can also use the vertical slider to see the “historical fires” layer to see what fires have existed in the region and see how closely they overlap with the Very High Fire Severity zones.
